Blu-ray Disc is the next-generation optical disc format that was developed to
enable recording and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing
large amounts of data. It is perfect for the new high capacity optical libraries that
will be used as the Archive portion of your PACS. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be
used to record over 2 hours of HDTV. Dual-Layer can hold 50GB. Blu-ray uses a
blue-violet laser to read and write data while current optical disc technologies,
such as DVD, use a red laser. The shorter wavelengths of the Blu-ray technology
make it possible to record more data on the same space. These discs are
safeguarded by a super hard coat which protects against everyday wear and tear. Users
can rest assured that MediScribe Certified Medical Blu-Ray discs are designed specifically for
medical applications and are FDA and CE MDD 93/42/EEC certified.
MediScribe offers a full line of Certified Medical Blu-Ray recording media and is available in jewel cases and cake boxes. Surface options include pre-printed and thermal.
