Blu-ray Disc is the next-generation optical disc format that was developed to
enable recording and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing
large amounts of data, perfect for the new high capacity optical libraries that
will be used as the Archive portion of your PACS. A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be
used to record over 2 hours of HDTV. Dual-Layer can hold 50GB. Blu-ray uses a
blue-violet laser to read and write data while current optical disc technologies
such as DVD use a red laser. The shorter wavelengths of the Blu-ray technology
make it possible to record more data on the same space. These discs are
safeguarded by a super hard coat which protects against everyday wear and tear. Users
can rest assured that MediScribe Certified Medical Blu-Ray discs are designed specifically for
medical applications and are FDA and CE MDD 93/42/EEC certified.
MediScribe offers a full line of Certified Medical Blu-Ray recording media and is available in jewel cases and cake boxes. Surface options include pre-printed and thermal.
