They can review test results, communicate with providers, and access their medical records. But when they need their diagnostic images, they may still be directed to another portal, asked to create another account, install specialized software, or request a physical disc.
That disconnect no longer makes sense. We asked ourselves a simple question: Why should accessing your diagnostic images be more complicated than accessing the rest of your health care information? EZ DICOM Distributor was developed to close that gap. |

Using SMART on FHIR integration with supported environments, including Epic MyChart® and Oracle Health/Cerner®, EZ DICOM Distributor makes patient-driven image sharing part of the existing digital health care experience. No separate image-sharing account. No additional software installation. No unnecessary complexity. Patients gain a more convenient way to access their diagnostic images, while health care organizations gain a more efficient alternative to traditional image distribution. The goal is simple: make image sharing easier for everyone. |

Q: Does moving beyond the disc mean replacing existing image distribution systems? |

Why make them go somewhere else for their images? EZ DICOM Distributor extends image access into that familiar environment. It helps eliminate unnecessary steps, reduces dependence on physical media, and gives health care organizations another practical way to modernize image distribution. It’s not about introducing another destination. It’s about making the destination patients already use more complete. |

Q: What should health care IT and imaging leaders be thinking about at RSNA 2026? |

| Sutherland: For years, the industry has focused on one question: “How do we exchange diagnostic images between health care organizations?”
That’s still important. But we believe the next question is just as critical: “How easily can our patients access and share their own diagnostic images?” Health care organizations need a strategy that addresses both—without adding complexity or abandoning existing investments. That’s where SST is focused. We’re helping organizations extend image distribution beyond the disc, beyond individual systems, and directly into the patient’s digital experience.
